5 Steps Process For Using Micropipettor

 Ensure the volume setting

It can save you from using the limits of pipettes as they may not be as effective as needed for these extremes. After setting the right micropipettor, you must rotate the plunger till you reach the desired volume. Upon reaching a situation where the numbers change wrongly, you need to rotate reversely until you get the resistance.

 

Put the right pipette tip

Different sizes of micropipettors will need tips of various sizes. To put on the tip, you must loosen the tip box. After this, push the pipette towards the tip. As tips come sterilized, you must not use your hands to touch them. The tip should stay on the pipette only, even when you lift it, and you need to have the right size for first-time usage. Test the size of tips by making an effort to eject the top, for which you need to push on the tip ejector. If it doesn't fit, that means you have a bigger size. The smaller tip size will stay on, and the right tip size will shoot off.


Push and add

When in air or fume hood, push on the plunger once and keep it there to emit the air. You must move from one step to another swiftly to avoid contamination of the clean pipette tip upon its presence in the air. Add your tip into the material and set your hold free on the plunger to lead the material to rise.




Emit material

In this step, you have to place the tip into the container to place the material and force the plunger downwards. Push more air as in the set volume by pushing twice. This step is essential for small volumes of liquid and viscous fluids, including glycerol. However, this is not compulsory for several non-viscous liquids.


Remove the micropipettor

Instead of releasing the plunger, take out the micropipettor from the container. Push the ejector on the pipette's back to emit the tip into the waste tip container. You can repeat as and when necessary.
